Become a Critic Essays - Television, , Term Papers

Become a Critic April L. Martin HUM/176 May 15, 2011 Greg Enos Become a Critic (Thesis Statement) Reality television has become a staple in American culture. The Real Housewives of New Jersey follows countless life experiences of a select group of women. Through these journeys, friendships are made, and bonds are broken. According to April Martin Review -Adjectives, and Adverbs ( 2011), ?The Real Housewives of New Jersey, offers a dynamic of surprisingly, ambitious women. The Manzo family seems to be the invincible and stimulating family. The Manzo?s will continuously and loyally defend their family, and values. Danielle Staubb appears to be superficial, and deliberately, trying to destroy the Manzo?s family bond, and business. Danielle?s extremely over the top dysfunctional ways has ostracized her from the rest of the housewives.? With all the everyday occurrences happening all around them, one cannot help but feel empathy for the younger children who seem to be wedged between the family friends, and parents. One will get swallowed up into all the dramatic, sensationalized lives these families lead. From their million dollar homes, to the over the top parties, one cannot stop watching. One wants to believe these families main obstacles in life are deciding on which fur coat to wear or what fashion i s in- style for the week. When the truth comes out in a different media form, which is far from the truth. A follow- up show to The Real Housewives of New Jersey called ?Watch What Happens Live!? Gives an individual sneak peak of what really happens behind the scenes. At times this show will give an individual the sense it is scripted as well as the original show with the physical fights, and tears. Watching The Real Housewives of New Jersey does give one a break from his or her everyday life. Whereas one may feel emotion for an individual on this show, he or she must also understand, that these families have chosen to have their private lives in the public view, and at times are acting not so gentleman or feminine like, as they allow the viewer to have the implication their lives are so wonderful, when in all actuality it is not that way. ?Reality? television most likely is not going to be obscure anytime in the near future, for the reason that society likes to ignore for a brief moment the harshness of our culture.
